Brief History

1955 - Missionettes (girls ages 12–17) authorized as a separate program of Women’s Ministries Council Department at the Oklahoma City General Council

1956 - First Missionettes clubs chartered; Missionettes Memos leadership magazine first published

1959 - Charlotte (Schumitsch) Goble named the first Auxiliary Coordinator (Women’s Missionary Council Department

1960 - Stairway to the Stars achievement program introduced

1961 - The first two Honor Stars crowned

1965 - Young Women’s Auxiliary (Ys) developed for girls ages 16–24

1968 - Prims organized for girls in grades 2 and 3

1972 - Daisies organized for girls in kindergarten and grade 1

1975 - Jenell (Ogg) Mueller named National Ys Coordinator

1979 - Rainbows organized for girls and boys 3-years-old to kindergarten

1979 - Jenell (Ogg) Mueller named National Auxiliaries Coordinator

1984 - 10,000th Honor Star crowned

1984 - Linda Upton named National Auxiliaries Coordinator

1990 - Major revisions in the Missionettes program to include 5 clubs: Rainbows, Daisies, Prims, Stars, and Ys

1991 - Total Missionettes giving topped $1 million

1991 - 20,000th Honor Star crowned

1993 - First Nationwide Missionettes Sleepover

1993 - Coins for Kids (CFK) launched

1995 - Kerry Clarensau named National Missionettes Coordinator

1997 - Total redesign of uniforms, T-shirts, and polos

1997 - Memos became Club Connection, a magazine for girls

1997 - Girls gave $84,409 to CFK

1998 - Missionettes curriculum rewritten and two new clubs, Friends and Girls Only, introduced

1998 - 40,000th Honor Star crowned

1999 - Missionettes is established as a department at Assemblies of God Headquarters

2000 - Debby Seler named National Missionettes Coordinator

2001 - Spanish translation of Rainbows materials introduced

2002 - Spanish translation of Daisies materials introduced

2003 - First stateside missions trip—the Phoenix trip, assisting John Maracle and the American Indian College. The Native American Fellowship was the CFK project that year.

2003 - Spanish translation of Prims materials introduced

2004 - First international missions trip to the House of Grace orphanage in Thailand

2004 - Coins for Kids giving for missions from 1993 to 2004 totals $952,335.26

2004 - New training series (Missionettes Leadership Development Units) introduced

2005 - Spanish translation of Stars materials introduced

2005 - Candy Tolbert named National Missionettes Director

2005 - The name is changed from Missionettes to National Girls Ministries including Mpact Girls Clubs, and Teen Girl Ministries.

  4. The mutual honoring of every district leader, encouraging teamwork and cooperation.

  5. The cultivation of Christ-like personal character and high moral standards in leaders.
